The GSRS holds meetings quarterly and alternate between a location in Stokes and Rockingham Counties. All meetings are held beginning at 2:30 pm and the board of directors meeting at 1:30 pm. Below is the schedule for the upcoming meetings:

Jan 8th Danbury Public Library at 2:30 pm

April 16th Madison-Mayodan Public Library
Shirley Brim Jones will be speaking about the Linda Vernon Genealogical Room.
July 9th Danbury Public Library
Speaker for the meeting will be Douglas J. Butler, author of North Carolina Civil War Monuments: An Illustrated History. This extraordinary book was a book that seemed destined to be written, wrote the author in his preface. "Nearly two decades ago, noting controversies surrounding confederate monuments, my late father suggested that I photograph these commemorations ‘before they might be moved." Mr. Butler explained. He began to casually take snapshots of the monuments he encountered. Soon enough, he began to have a more intense curiosity about them as he began to read the inscriptions, look at the symbolism and note details of the portrayed subjects. This book with its artistic photographs, researched histories, and descriptions of settings has become extremely important in the present environment.
